Masterpieces in Oil on Canvas
Bringing Dreams to Life with Every Stroke
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I am Priyanka Abhijit Khalate, an oil painter drawn to the beauty and simplicity of life's quiet moments. For me, painting is a way to preserve the emotions hidden in everyday objects—a jar of fruit, a gleaming vase, or the gentle fall of light on a fabric. Each scene tells a story, and my goal is to share these stories through rich colors, delicate textures, and an enduring sense of warmth.
My art is inspired by the harmony of nature and the charm of the past, blending fresh, natural elements with timeless antiques. Whether it's a still life, a landscape, or a quiet corner of a room, I strive to create works that feel alive, inviting viewers to pause and experience the serenity I feel while painting.
Now living in London, I continue to draw inspiration from the city's dynamic energy, which enriches my artistic practice.
One of my most ambitious works, Rajyabhishek, is a monumental oil painting that celebrates the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This masterpiece was created with meticulous attention to detail, vibrant color palettes, and an immense dedication to honoring history. The painting captures the magnificence of the grand ceremony, with richly adorned characters, intricate traditional attire, and a regal atmosphere that reflects the cultural pride of India.
In addition to my ongoing artistic practice, I have held solo exhibitions that have allowed me to share my works with the public. One such exhibition took place in Pune, India, in 2016, where I showcased a collection of my paintings. This event marked a significant milestone in my artistic journey, providing an opportunity to connect with art enthusiasts, receive valuable feedback, and further refine my craft.
Light holds a special place in my work, not just as an element of realism but as a symbol of hope, warmth, and transformation. I often seek the perfect interplay of light and shadow to create depth and evoke emotion in my paintings. The way light falls on an object can completely change its character, bringing a sense of life and energy. For me, capturing the subtleties of light—whether it's the soft glow of dawn, the golden hue of a sunset, or the play of light on a textured surface—enhances the depth and feeling of each piece.
Painting is my way of chasing light, celebrating beauty, and finding joy in the ordinary. I hope my art brings as much peace to your life as it does to mine.
